Cigars, politics & a flaming collide — Maher and Penn’s Club Random episode gets heated o’er Trump, Chavez, and dinner invites.
Tempers flared and cigars burned as Bill Maher and Sean Penn locked horns on the modish ‘Club Random’ podcast installment, with Trump — of class — at the center of it all. When Penn questioned Maher’s headline-making dinner with Donald Trump, the ‘Real Time’ boniface snapped, slamming the Oscar-winner’s history of meetings with dictators.
“Really? You’ll receive with f-king Castro and Hugo Chavez but not the President of the United States?” Maher shot backwards, referring to Penn’s high-profile sit-downs with the belatedly Cuban and Venezuelan leaders. The two debated o’er the dinner, which was arranged by Kid Rock and detailed by Maher before this year.
While Penn called Maher’s Trump commentary “too successful,” Maher insisted he didn’t go soft, expression, “It wasn’t successful — I never stopped-up, criticizing him.”
Penn admitted he wouldn’t combine anything said in a way with Trump, prompting Maher to jab again: “It’s nearly seeing it for yourself.”
The jar ended with Maher teasing a hereafter Trump dinner bid for Penn. His response? “Long flight.” This installment is very spicy — and not just from the tequila and cigars.
