Outspoken as ever, Prakash Raj is once again making noise—and this time, it’s about the increasing trend of banning films. In a fiery new interview with The Lallantop, the actor came down hard on censorship, saying, “Let people decide. You can’t ban films unless it’s child abuse or porn. Not thought.”
Referencing the backlash faced by Padmaavat, Pathaan, L2: Empuraan, and most recently Abir Gulaal—starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan—Prakash didn’t hold back. “You threaten to chop off Deepika’s nose? You scream about a saffron bikini? What kind of country are we becoming?” he questioned, clearly irked.
He further blasted the growing fear in the industry: “Certain films will never be made now. There’s censorship, and the next generation will be too scared to even write what they feel.”
Citing The Kashmir Files vs Empuraan, Raj claimed the current regime—like many before—uses power to silence dissent. “Give any government too much control, and it will become intolerable,” he warned.
As usual, the actor’s bold words have the internet buzzing—and the debate around film freedom raging once more.
