Anurag Kashyap power be really known for edgy storytelling, but lately, he’s been stealing scenes on screen—this clip as a full-blown baddie in South Indian blockbusters. After his shuddery act in Maharaja, Kashyap revealed that it was none other than Vijay Sethupathi who pulled him back into the Southern film circuit. Why? Well, Kashyap needed to fund his daughter Aaliyah’s wedding, and Vijay came to the rescue!
At a recent event, Kashyap confessed, “I said no to South films after Imaikka Nodigal. Then Sethupathi came to me with Maharaja, and when I mentioned I needed money for the wedding, he said, ‘We’ll help you.’ So I couldn’t say no.”
But that wasn’t the only clip acting paid off—literally. After the fizzle of Bombay Velvet, Kashyap was offered a role in Akira to wipe out a monolithic debt to Fox Star Studios. “I became the highest-paid unpaid actor,” he laughed.
