Chris Evans is making one thing clear—he’s NOT suiting up as Captain America again! The Hollywood heartthrob finally broke his silence on those persistent Avengers: Doomsday (2026) rumors, telling Esquire that he’s “happily retired” from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“I’ve just stopped responding to it,” Evans said, shutting down speculation that Steve Rogers would return to the battlefield. And guess what? Even Anthony Mackie, our new Captain America, isn’t in on any secret plans! “I asked him, and he said, ‘Oh, you know, I’m happily retired,’” Mackie revealed.
But before you shed a tear, Evans has dipped back into Marvel waters—just not as Cap! He’ll make a surprise appearance as Johnny Storm (aka Human Torch) in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr. is making a shocking return not as Iron Man, but as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars!
As for Cap’s shield? It firmly belongs to Mackie now, and he’s set to soar in Captain America: Brave New World, hitting theaters this Valentine’s Day. One thing’s for sure—Marvel’s future is just as unpredictable as ever!
