Just four days in, a neck-grabbing eviction and a Penthouse walkout have people talking about Rise & Fall 2 more than Bigg Boss 20.

MUMBAI: Bigg Boss 20 has Salman Khan, two decades of brand recall and a format built for chaos. Rise & Fall 2 has barely been on air for a week. Yet it is the newer show that has the internet buzzing.

Bigg Boss 20 (Tathas-Two) premiered on 6 September 2026, with Salman Khan hosting for the seventeenth consecutive season. Rise & Fall Season 2 airs daily on Prime Video at 12 noon, with Virender Sehwag as host. It launched on 26 September.

Rise & Fall 2’s Explosive Start

Rise & Fall 2 didn’t need a slow burn. By its third episode, it had produced the kind of moment reality TV producers dream about.

The trigger was the “Ultimate Ruler” race. Siwet Tomar was removed from that race, and when asked to name the weakest decision-maker, he picked Shehzad Poonawalla. Things escalated fast. A conversation about who deserved to be Ultimate Ruler turned into a full-blown physical altercation. Siwet grabbed Poonawalla’s neck, and the makers evicted him for breaking the show’s rule against physical violence. Poonawalla’s kurta was reportedly torn in the scuffle.

Many viewers were surprised that several of them signed up at all, and that curiosity has turned into engagement.

After the Ultimate Ruler race, Karan Patel, Tej Pratap Yadav, Shehzad Poonawalla, Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, Swara Bhasker, Siwet Tomar, Irina Rudakova and Raj Grover took the Penthouse, while the rest stayed in the Basement. Rulers versus workers means a built-in class war, and the show has leaned into it.

Bigg Boss 20’s lineup is broad on paper: Aasif Khan, Aman Gandhi, Aamrapali Dubey, Isha Rikhi, Kanika Mann, Mahhi Vij, Arishfa Khan, Uditi Singh, Rohed Khan, Love Gill, Rhiti Tiwari, Qazi Touqeer, Yung DSA, ScoutOP, Kushal Tanwar (Gullu) and Mary Kom. But many are fresh faces or names that haven’t been in the headlines lately. So far, the buzz hasn’t matched the show’s legacy, and Salman has reportedly had to nudge housemates to make their presence felt.

The Rise & Fall 2 house has three storylines viewers are already following:

The ideological face-off: Swara Bhasker and Shehzad Poonawalla have already clashed over their opposing politics. That makes for sharp television.
The odd-couple banter: Shehzad Poonawalla and Tej Pratap Yadav come from rival political camps, and their exchanges have become an unexpected favourite.

What This Means for Both Shows

For Rise & Fall 2, the early noise is a big advantage, but it puts pressure on the makers. Strictly enforcing the no-violence rule earned attention, but the walkout shows that consistency matters. If contestants feel rulings are one-sided, the show could face a credibility problem. The makers also have to prove the show can produce drama through strategy and not just scuffles.

For Bigg Boss 20, this is not an emergency. The franchise has a habit of starting slow and peaking later, and Weekend Ka Vaar with Salman Khan is still among the strongest weekly draws in Indian reality TV. But the season needs a big personality or a headline-grabbing fight soon. If the current cast stays quiet, expect the makers to try a twist, a wild-card entry or a stronger push on the Tathas-Two second-chance concept.
