Deva Review: Shahid Kapoor’s Thriller Packs a Punch—But Takes It’s Time!

Shahid Kapoor is backwards in Deva, playing a hot-headed cop with a very big problem—amnesia! After a suspicious bike crash, Dev Ambre wakes up with zero memory of the high-stakes pillowcase he was solving.

With simply 15 years to crack a case he can’t really regular recall, Dev must piece unitedly his yesteryear piece dodging enemies lurking in the shadows.

What deeds? The last-place 30 proceedings are an absolute ko! The slacken build-up finally explodes into a thrilling climax, making the waiting (mostly) worth it. Shahid Kapoor is in top spring, effortlessly balancing intensity and exposure.

Pavail Gulati also shines, delivering a surprisingly emotional execution. The cinematography is slick, and the persistent background account elevates the tension.

What doesn’t? The pacing! Marketed as a high-octane thriller, Deva really unfolds so like a slow-burn drama, which might frustrate action junkies. Pooja Hegde is wasted in a forgettable role, and the shoot overstays its welcome with a too few unnecessary detours.

Final verdict? If you passion layered thrillers that reward patience, Deva is your form of celluloid. But if you’re expecting a breakneck process ride—adjust those expectations!

Now playing in theatres.
