The renowned Hollywood friends Jason Statham and Jackie Chan are returning with The RIP, a crime drama based on true stories, on Netflix January 16, 2026.
Keep your calendars ready! Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are set to star together in the Netflix crime thriller The RIP which will be released worldwide on January 16, 2026. Under their Artists Equity banner, the pair stars in a film directed by Joe Carnahan with action, backstabbing and Miami flair.
Described at the Netflix Tudum event, The RIP tells the story of Miami cops whose friendship starts to break apart after they find significant hidden money. Friends and family are put to the test, keeping secrets reveals itself and nobody can be believed.
As the film was based on real Miami-Dade cases, director Carnahan sees the movie as a personal one, with hints of Heat and Serpico. The strong cast is made up of Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Kyle Chandler and others.
The title? If a robbery causes police to seize stolen loot, that’s “ripping” it in Miami police slang. Air was all about Damon and Affleck’s business experience, whereas The RIP focuses on the excitement. 2026 will start off using explosive drama and suspense on Netflix.
