Prabhas SAFE After Massive 7.6 Japan Earthquake: Director Maruthi Confirms Fans Can ‘Relax, Darling Is Fine’

Tollywood superstar was in Japan promoting Baahubali: The Epic; fans panic as quake triggers tsunami warnings

Tollywood’s global darling Prabhas found himself at the centre of a major scare on Monday after a powerful 7.6 magnitude earthquake rocked Japan’s northern coast, triggering tsunami warnings and sending fans into full-blown panic mode on social media. The actor is currently in Japan, promoting the international release of Baahubali: The Epic, a recut version of his blockbuster franchise.

As soon as news of the quake broke, hashtags like #Prabhas, #JapanEarthquake, and #StaySafePrabhas began trending, with fans pleading for updates on their beloved “Darling.” And finally, it was The Raja Saab director Maruthi who stepped in to calm the storm.

“Darling Is Safe”: Maruthi’s Update Ends Fan Panic

A fan on X (formerly Twitter) posted in Telugu expressing concern that Prabhas was still in Japan despite the earthquake and tsunami warnings. The message quickly caught fire among fan clubs.

Within minutes, director Maruthi responded with the reassurance fans desperately needed:
“Spoke to Darling. He is not in Tokyo and doing safe. No worries.”

That single statement was enough to send the Prabhas fandom into celebration mode. Memes, prayers, and emotional messages flooded timelines — as if the entire fandom took a collective breath of relief.

This incident, once again, showed the unmatched craze surrounding Prabhas, who remains one of India’s biggest global stars. For Japanese fans too, his arrival has been a massive event — thousands turned up for Baahubali: The Epic promotions, proving his pan-Asian popularity is still sky-high.

Japan Hit by Major Quake, Tsunami Warning Issued

According to Japan’s Meteorological Agency, the 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck off Misawa on the Pacific coast, forcing immediate evacuations in multiple regions including Aomori. Several tsunami waves were recorded, with one hitting a port in Aomori.

Although the warning was later lifted, authorities cautioned that the region remains on alert for a potential megaquake — something Japan has been anticipating for years.

With Prabhas being in the country during this period, his fans from across India, Nepal, UAE, and even Japan were understandably shaken.

Prabhas’ Japan Visit: Why He Was There

Prabhas travelled to Japan with producer Shobu Yarlagadda ahead of the December 12 theatrical release of Baahubali: The Epic. The recut combines both Baahubali films into a single, specially edited experience aimed at the Japanese market — where Prabhas already enjoys a tremendous fan following after the original releases.

Japanese fans have always treated him like royalty. During the promotions, social media was filled with fan-cam videos, long queues for interactions, and massive cardboard cutouts across Tokyo and Osaka.

And now, ironically, the earthquake unintentionally amplified the same popularity — fans across Asia were refreshing feeds non-stop for updates about his safety.

A Blockbuster Year for Prabhas — With More Loading

Despite 2024 being a chaotic year for many industries, Prabhas has had a strong run. His science-fiction epic Kalki 2898 AD, co-starring Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, became one of the biggest global hits from India.

He also made a cameo in Kannappa and gave a voiceover in Mirai. And then came the recut release of Baahubali: The Epic on October 31 in India, with Japan now gearing up for its premiere.

But 2025 and 2026? Those are the years fans have their eyes on.

Prabhas’ Upcoming Films: A Power-Packed Lineup

1. The Raja Saab

Directed by Maruthi, this film marks Prabhas’ return to commercial supernatural romance. After Maruthi’s reassurance about the earthquake incident, this film is once again in heavy chatter among fans.

2. Fauzi

One of Prabhas’ most anticipated action thrillers, set for a 2025 release.

3. Spirit

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga — the man behind Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh, and Animal. This project alone is expected to shatter every existing box office benchmark when it arrives.

4. Kalki 2898 AD – Part 2

Nag Ashwin’s mega-universe is far from over. Fans expect Prabhas’ character Bhairava to take centre stage in the sequel.

5. Salaar 2

With Part 1’s global success, Prashanth Neel’s sequel already has monster expectations.

6. Baahubali: The Eternal War – Part 1 (Animated)

Prabhas’ iconic role continues — this time in the animated space.

One thing is clear: no star in Indian cinema has a slate as gigantic, diverse, or ambitious as Prabhas right now.

Why Prabhas’ Popularity in Japan Is Only Growing

Japan has a soft spot for Indian action epics, but Prabhas is an exception even among Indian stars. Baahubali became a cult sensation there, with fan clubs organising meetups, screenings, cosplay, and more.

After RRR dominated global charts, interest in Indian cinema skyrocketed once again — and Prabhas remains one of the biggest faces of that wave.

The release of Baahubali: The Epic is expected to boost this popularity even further. And if early fan reactions are anything to go by, the Japan box office might just see another Indian storm.

Fans Thanking God and Maruthi: “Our Darling Must Be Protected”

As soon as Maruthi confirmed that Prabhas was safe, fans flooded X with relief messages like:

“Thank you sir. We trust you more than the news channels!”
“Darling is safe, that’s all that matters.”
“Baahubali ki raksha Bhagwan bhi karta hai.”

Some even joked that if Prabhas wanted, the earthquake would have stopped out of respect — classic Prabhas fandom humour.

It’s safe to say: the panic is over, the love is louder, and Prabhas continues to remain at the centre of global fan adoration.

Final Word: Superstar Safe, Films On Track, Fans Relieved

The Japan earthquake may have sparked fear among millions, but thankfully, Prabhas is completely safe — and gearing up for one of the biggest years of his career. With The Raja Saab, Fauzi, Spirit, Kalki 2898 AD 2, Salaar 2 and an animated Baahubali project coming up, the superstar is ready to dominate every continent he steps into.

Darling fans can finally sleep in peace.
