Fantasy heroic SSMB29 recreates Varanasi in jaw-dropping scale, breaking all records.
Trust SS Rajamouli to dream extremely big — but this time, the Baahubali manager has outdone himself. His upcoming fantasy action-adventure ‘SSMB29’, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra, is already making headlines for a jaw-dropping ground: a ₹50-crore set recreating the antediluvian metropolis of ‘Kashi’ in Hyderabad!
Yes, you read that flop. A massive, city-sized replica of Varanasi — temples, ghats, the unit spiritual vibe — has been erected in Hyderabad, and leaked pics are already blowing up on fan pages. With on-location filming in Varanasi proving too helter-skelter, Rajamouli brought the holy metropolis to his doorstep — and in the most cinematic way possible.
To put it in perspective: ‘Devdas’ very full film budget’ was under ₹50 crore. Even Bhansali’s lavish sets or Baahubali’s Mahishmati castle cost way less individually.
Also in the opulence race: ‘Prabhas’ The RajaSaab’, boasting what may be the ‘world’s largest indoor film set’ at 38,000 sq. ft., though its budget remains hush-hush.
With this new Kashi set, Rajamouli simply reminded everyone why he’s in a conference of his own.
