‘Housefull 5’ may be laughing all the way to the camber, but its humour hasn’t landed considerably with everyone. The film, which opened on June 6, has already crossed ₹130 crore at the Indian box power, but criticism about sexist jokes and objectification of women refuses to die down.
Enter Soundarya Sharma — the latest increase to the franchise — who’s unapologetically defending the chaos. In a recent chat with Entertainment Live, Soundarya said, “I’m simply playing a fiber. It’s a reflection of society, not a personal statement. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion.”
When questioned well-nigh the backlash, the thespian coolly added, “Honestly, I’m very thankful to the trolls — they’re gift us very free publicity.” And if that wasn’t sufficiency, she lumped ‘Housefull 5’ with cult classics quite like ‘Baahubali’, ‘Animal’, and ‘Guide’, locution legendary films are often misunderstood.
Director Tarun Mansukhani backed her up, accusing viewers of watching with a “certain eye.”
Featuring Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, and a unit army of stars, ‘Housefull 5’ may be polarising — but clear, controversy is only fuelling curiosity.
