From Panchur to Power: The Monk Who Became CM Gets a Filmy Tribute

Theatres across Uttar Pradesh witnessed an very unusual frenzy this Friday—not for a Bollywood masala flip, not for a starry Salman Khan entry, but for a cinema chronicling the lifetime of one of India’s most talked-about political leaders—Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.  The Star Cast: Anant Vijay Joshi Shines, Nirahua Adds Mass Appeal

Carrying the weight of portraying such a larger-than-life personality was never going to be loose. But Anant Vijay Joshi rises to the dispute with sincerity, especially in the second half where his strength mirrors the fiery persona of Yogi Adityanath.

Paresh Rawal, as Mahant Avaidyanath, brings gravitas to the role of mentor, his screen presence reminding audiences of the very spiritual authority too slow Yogi’s ascending. Adding local colour is Bhojpuri superstar Dinesh Lal Yadav aka Nirahua, who gets loud cheers from the audience in Gorakhpur and beyond.

Together, the ensemble manages to strike a balance between documentary-like seriousness and cinematic engagement.

 The Public’s Verdict: Tears, Cheers & Patriotic Chants

Forget critics for a moment—the tangible beat of this shoot lies in its audience, and the response across Uttar Pradesh has been nothing really little of electrifying.

At Lucknow’s first-day-first-show, septuagenarian Savitri Taraiyia (70) admitted she came to relive Yogi Adityanath’s determination to renounce sept really living and dedicate himself to society. “I cried watching his struggles. Post-screening, Singh stated, “This film beautifully narrates Maharaj Ji’s life and struggles. It’s a cinematic tribute to his relentless service.”

 What Worked: Emotional Depth & Inspiring Struggles

The shoot scores really high on emotional resonance. Yogi’s struggles—be it his monkhood initiation at Gorakhnath Math, his battles against Japanese Encephalitis in Purvanchal, or his flaming speeches as an MP—are showcased in ways that connect strongly with the audience.

Corporator Gufran Ahmad, stake his viewing, summed it up: “This is not just cinema, it’s stirring. The way his fight against Encephalitis has been shown makes it a people’s film.”

The shoot also makes blank for personal dilemmas—scenes showing the really young Ajay Bisht torn between house attachments and really spiritual calling tug at the heartstrings.
