Lovepreet Gill has already built a career across Punjabi music videos, television and films. Now, her fan-vote entry into Bigg Boss 20 is putting her in front of a massive Hindi-speaking audience.

Bigg Boss 20 has introduced a colourful mix of television stars, actors, influencers, musicians and sporting personalities, but one contestant has arrived with a particularly interesting advantage: a ready-made identity from the Punjabi entertainment industry.

Meet Lovepreet Kaur Gill, better known as Love Gill.
The Punjabi model and actress entered Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 20 with a journey that is already different from many contestants in the house. Before stepping inside India’s biggest reality-show house, Love had spent years working across modelling, music videos, television and Punjabi cinema.
And now, her arrival on Bigg Boss 20 is opening the door to an entirely new audience.
But there is another reason her name is generating buzz.
Almost immediately after her entry, comparisons with former Bigg Boss contestant Shehnaaz Gill began surfacing online. Both are Punjabi entertainers with a strong regional connect, and both entered the Bigg Boss universe with personalities capable of connecting with audiences beyond the traditional Hindi television market.
However, Love herself has made it clear that she wants to be recognised for her own identity, rather than being treated as another Shehnaaz Gill.

Who Is Love Gill?
Lovepreet Kaur Gill was born on December 20, 1996, and comes from Tarn Taran Sahib in Punjab. She completed her graduation from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, before entering the entertainment industry.
Her first steps were in modelling.
Like several Punjabi actresses who have successfully transitioned from music videos to films, Love began building visibility through the Punjabi music scene. Her big breakthrough came in 2019, when she appeared in Karan Aujla’s music video “Facts.” The project brought her wider recognition and helped establish her as a familiar face in Punjabi popular culture.
But Love did not stop with music videos.
She gradually expanded into television and films, turning what could have been a short modelling career into a much broader acting journey.
From Music Videos to Television
In 2020, Love made her acting debut with the short film Doonga Daria. Around the same period, she entered Punjabi television with Tu Patang Main Dor, where she played Zarina.
The show became another important step in her career because television allowed Love to build a character-driven connection with viewers rather than simply appearing in music videos.
Her career path was beginning to look increasingly clear:
Modelling → Music Videos → Television → Punjabi Films → Bigg Boss.
It is a route that has worked for several regional entertainers, but Bigg Boss gives Love something none of those earlier platforms could offer at the same scale—a nationwide audience watching her personality rather than simply watching her perform.
Love Gill’s Punjabi Film Journey
Love made her Punjabi big-screen debut in 2021 with Kuriyan Jawan Bapu Pareshaan, where she played Sandy Sharma.
She subsequently appeared in projects including Haterz, Kulche Chole, Gadar 1947: Ikk Vichhoda, Vekhi Ja Chhedi Na, Hanji Kaun? and Furlow.
Among these, Vekhi Ja Chhedi Na became one of the notable titles associated with her filmography. The 2024 Punjabi film featured Love as Nikki and expanded her visibility within the regional film industry.
Her work across films and music videos also means that Love isn’t entering Bigg Boss 20 as someone completely unknown to entertainment audiences.
She already has years of camera experience.
What changes inside the Bigg Boss house is that there is nowhere to hide behind a character, choreography, costume or music-video concept.
The audience gets Love Gill herself.
Nearly 50 Music Videos and a Strong Punjabi Connect
One of the more interesting aspects of Love’s pre-Bigg Boss career is the sheer number of music-video appearances attached to her name.
Reports have highlighted that she has worked in close to 50 music videos, giving her considerable experience in the Punjabi music ecosystem.
Her association with major Punjabi artists has helped her remain visible across the industry’s music-video circuit.
That background could become particularly valuable inside Bigg Boss.
Why?
Because the show is not simply about acting ability.
Contestants need to build relationships, survive arguments, perform in tasks, handle nominations and create memorable moments. Love’s experience in front of the camera could help her adapt quickly to the intense environment.
The Shehnaaz Gill Comparison Has Already Started
This is where things get interesting.
Whenever a Punjabi contestant enters Bigg Boss, comparisons with Shehnaaz Gill are almost inevitable because of Shehnaaz’s enormous popularity following her own stint on the show.
Love Gill has now found herself in the same conversation.
But there is an important distinction.
Love is not trying to recreate Shehnaaz’s journey.
In a recent statement, she addressed the comparisons and emphasised that she respects Shehnaaz but has her own identity, personality and career journey.
That may ultimately be the smartest narrative for Love’s Bigg Boss journey.
Rather than trying to become “the next Shehnaaz Gill”, her biggest opportunity is to establish what makes Love Gill different.
And Bigg Boss is perhaps the perfect place to do exactly that.
The Fan-Vote Twist That Changed Her Bigg Boss Journey
Love’s entry into Bigg Boss 20 was not completely straightforward.
Ahead of the show’s premiere, she competed with Rhiya Ahir for a place in the main house through a fan-voting process known as “Fans Ka Faisla.”
Love secured the audience vote and entered the Bigg Boss 20 house, while Rhiya did not make it into the main competition at that stage.
That detail gives Love an interesting storyline from Day One.
She wasn’t simply handed a spot.
Her entry was connected to audience participation, meaning viewers had already played a role in putting her inside the house.
That can become a powerful narrative if she manages to build on that support.
But Love Gill’s First Test Came Quickly
The reality-show honeymoon did not last long.
Love was among the contestants nominated during the opening week, alongside names including Kanika Mann, Uditi Singh and Arishfa Khan.
For any contestant, early nomination is an important reality check.
The first few days of Bigg Boss are when audiences begin deciding which personalities they want to follow, support or criticise. A contestant with a regional fan base has an advantage, but that support cannot automatically guarantee longevity.
Love now has to convert Punjabi popularity into pan-India television popularity.
That is a completely different challenge.
Why Bigg Boss 20 Could Be a Career Turning Point
The biggest potential impact of the show on Love Gill’s career is exposure.
Before Bigg Boss, much of her recognition was concentrated within Punjabi entertainment—music videos, Punjabi television and regional cinema.
Bigg Boss 20 puts her in front of a much broader audience every single day.
If viewers connect with her personality, the show could potentially open doors in Hindi television, reality programming, brand endorsements and mainstream entertainment.
It could also increase interest in her existing Punjabi filmography and music-video work.
But there is another side to the equation.
Reality television can dramatically change public perception.
A contestant who is perceived as authentic can gain a loyal fan base quickly. Conversely, conflicts, controversial statements or an unpopular alliance can become defining parts of a contestant’s public image.
For Love, the challenge will be maintaining the confidence that made her noticeable while revealing enough vulnerability and personality for viewers to emotionally invest in her journey.
Could Love Gill Become a Top Contender?
It is too early to know how far Love Gill will go in Bigg Boss 20.
The season has only just begun, and the show’s dynamics can change dramatically through nominations, captaincy tasks, friendships and Weekend Ka Vaar episodes.
What is clear is that Love has entered the house with three useful ingredients:
A regional fan base. A long entertainment career. And a fan-vote entry that already connects her journey with the audience.
Her early nomination also means that her popularity will face a real test rather than simply being assumed.
And then there is the Shehnaaz comparison hanging over everything.
The more Love tries to prove that she is not another Shehnaaz, the more attention she may receive for simply being herself.
That could be the real twist in her Bigg Boss 20 story.
Love Gill does not necessarily need to become the next Shehnaaz Gill.
She needs to become the first Love Gill that the national Bigg Boss audience remembers.
And if she manages that, her journey from Punjabi music videos to the Bigg Boss 20 house could become one of the season’s more interesting career transformations.
