Graamaayana Box Office Collection Day 2: Vinay Rajkumar’s Village Drama Stays Flat at INR 0.71 Crore Worldwide, Sunday Now Holds the Key

Vinay Rajkumar’s rustic Kannada action-romance has maintained its Day 1 numbers on Saturday, but Graamaayana needs a sharp Sunday turnaround to avoid an early box-office struggle.

Kannada cinema’s latest rural entertainer Graamaayana has completed two days in theatres with a quiet start at the box office. Starring Vinay Rajkumar as the sharp-minded village youngster Seena, popularly called “Sixth Sense” Seena, the film has collected ₹0.71 crore worldwide so far. Its India net collection stands at ₹0.64 crore, while the India gross is reported to be ₹0.71 crore.

Released on July 3, 2026, Graamaayana arrived with a familiar but potentially crowd-pleasing mix of village life, romance, local conflict, family drama and action. However, the early collection trend suggests that the film has not yet managed to create the kind of opening-day excitement that can turn a rooted Kannada film into a word-of-mouth winner.

The Devanuru Chandru directorial collected ₹0.32 crore net on Day 1 and repeated the same figure on Day 2. The flat trend is neither a collapse nor a growth story. It simply means the film has held its limited opening audience but has not yet convinced new viewers to step into theatres.

For Graamaayana, Sunday is now the first major test.

Graamaayana Box Office Collection Day 2

Day 1: ₹0.32 crore net

Day 2: ₹0.32 crore net

Total India Net Collection: ₹0.64 crore

India Gross Collection: ₹0.71 crore

Overseas Collection: ₹0 crore

Worldwide Collection: ₹0.71 crore

The film’s lack of overseas business means its entire worldwide collection currently comes from the Indian market. That puts the pressure firmly on Karnataka, where the film needs to improve its occupancy in city multiplexes as well as single-screen centres if it wants to build a respectable opening-weekend total.

A Rural Story With a Familiar Kannada Cinema Flavour

Graamaayana is set against a rustic village backdrop and follows Seena, a young man known for his sharp instincts and quick thinking. Vinay Rajkumar plays the central character, whose nickname “Sixth Sense” Seena reflects his ability to read situations before others do.

The film attempts to combine romance, action and family drama with the everyday politics and tensions of village life. Such stories have often worked well in Kannada cinema when they strike the right balance between humour, emotion, local flavour and a hero audiences can root for.

The premise has the ingredients of a commercial rural drama. There is a clever young protagonist, community conflicts, family stakes, romance and the promise of action. But the box office numbers indicate that the film has not yet generated enough urgency among audiences.

The biggest issue for mid-budget Kannada releases is visibility. A film may have a strong local setting and a recognisable cast, but unless the trailer, songs, reviews or audience reactions create a conversation, viewers often wait for streaming instead of buying a theatre ticket. Graamaayana appears to be facing that exact challenge in its opening weekend.

Vinay Rajkumar’s Important Box Office Test

For Vinay Rajkumar, Graamaayana is an important release. As a member of the Rajkumar family, he carries a legacy that naturally brings expectations. But he has also been trying to create his own space through films that offer different shades of performance rather than relying only on the weight of his surname.

Seena gives him a character that is rooted, energetic and designed for a broad Kannada audience. The role has the potential to show Vinay in a more accessible commercial zone, especially with the “Sixth Sense” hook giving the character a distinctive identity.

The early box office response, however, means the film needs stronger public support to become a meaningful success. The ₹0.32 crore Day 1 opening was low, and the identical Day 2 collection shows that Saturday did not provide the expected weekend boost.

Still, the film has not completely lost its chance. Kannada films with rural themes can sometimes grow gradually if family audiences and local viewers begin recommending them. The Sunday performance will reveal whether Graamaayana can turn into one of those slow-burn releases.

Achyuth Kumar, Arun Sagar and Megha Shetty Add Familiar Faces

The supporting cast gives Graamaayana a strong Kannada cinema identity. Achyuth Kumar is among the most dependable actors in the industry, capable of adding depth, humour or emotional weight to a scene. Arun Sagar brings his own recognisable energy, while Gopalkrishna Deshpande adds credibility to the village-drama setup.

Megha Shetty’s presence gives the film a youthful romantic angle. The actor has built visibility through television and Kannada projects, and Graamaayana offers her an opportunity to connect with audiences in a theatrical rural entertainer.

The ensemble should have helped the film appeal to different audience segments. But the opening numbers show that casting alone has not been enough to drive footfalls. The film now needs positive reactions to its story, performances and music to gain traction.

Can Sunday Change the Game?

The Day 2 hold is not necessarily bad news. A steep fall would have indicated that the opening audience rejected the film. Graamaayana has at least maintained its Friday figure, which means it has retained some interest.

But flat collections are not enough in a competitive theatrical market.

Sunday needs to bring a visible jump. If the film can push beyond ₹0.45 crore to ₹0.50 crore net on Day 3, it could finish its opening weekend close to the ₹1.1 crore to ₹1.2 crore net range. That would still be a modest total, but it would give the makers a chance to hold screens during the first week.

If Sunday stays close to ₹0.32 crore, Graamaayana may face a difficult Monday drop. At that point, the film’s theatrical journey could become limited, with exhibitors shifting focus to bigger releases or films showing stronger occupancy.

The challenge is not only the competition in theatres. Streaming platforms have changed audience behaviour, particularly for mid-sized regional films. Viewers now often wait for digital premieres unless a film offers a strong theatrical reason: a major star, a spectacular visual experience, a viral song, exceptional reviews or a powerful word-of-mouth wave.

Graamaayana has the local flavour and the family-drama ingredients, but it still needs that one factor that makes people say, “This is worth watching in a theatre.”

What the Film’s Performance Means for Kannada Cinema

The film’s opening also highlights the current reality for Kannada cinema. The industry has delivered major pan-India blockbusters in recent years, but smaller films continue to face a difficult theatrical environment. Big-scale releases create headlines, while grounded regional stories often have to fight for screens, show timings and attention.

That does not mean films like Graamaayana have no audience. It means the marketing and positioning need to be sharper. A village drama must sell more than its setting. It needs a memorable emotional hook, a standout character, a song that travels on social media or reviews strong enough to create curiosity.

The title Graamaayana itself suggests a story of the village and its people. If audiences connect with Seena’s journey, the film could still find a respectable run in select pockets. Its eventual streaming release may also help it reach viewers who enjoy rooted Kannada stories but did not make it to theatres.

For now, Graamaayana is holding steady but not rising. Vinay Rajkumar’s “Sixth Sense” Seena needs to find the right box-office instinct quickly. The film has two days of modest collections behind it, and Sunday will decide whether its village journey gets a second wind or begins to lose steam.

Graamaayana is currently running in theatres.
