Ahead of Avengers: Doomsday, Hemsworth’s tribute sparks rumors of Thor’s death and MCU exit
Is this the end for the God of Thunder? Chris Hemsworth has left Marvel fans teary-eyed and buzzing after posting an emotional farewell-style video titled Thank You! The Legacy of Thor on his YouTube channel. The 1-minute 56-second tribute includes powerful scenes from all his MCU appearances—from Thor (2011) to Endgame—and ends with a cryptic tease: “Next up, Doomsday!”
Hemsworth, who’s played Thor for 15 years, says, “Playing Thor has been one of the greatest honors of my life… but what made it truly special was sharing it with all of you.” Cue speculation that the hammer (and Stormbreaker) might soon be laid to rest.
Fans are convinced Avengers: Doomsday (releasing December 18, 2026) might be Thor’s final battle—especially with rumors swirling that Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will take him down in the film’s opening moments.
Could this be Hemsworth’s MCU swan song before a possible Secret Wars return in 2027? Or just another Marvel misdirection?
Either way, the internet’s screaming: protect Thor at all costs.
