In a new twist to the shocking stabbing incident involving Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, an identification lineup was held at Arthur Road Jail for 30-year-old Shariful Islam, the suspect arrested for the attack on the actor and his staff. Reports reveal that Khan’s staff members, Elayama Philip and Aya Juru, recognized Islam as the intruder who broke into the actor’s residence on January 16.
Islam, who allegedly attacked Khan after assaulting his staff, was identified in the lineup, with the first responders confirming his involvement. Facial recognition also matched Islam’s image with CCTV footage from the night of the crime, although results for fingerprint and blood analysis are still pending. Despite some online skepticism questioning whether the right suspect was apprehended—due to mismatched fingerprints—authorities remain firm in their identification.
The attack occurred in the early hours when an intruder broke into Khan’s son’s room and violently assaulted the caretakers, before turning on the actor himself. Khan was stabbed six times but managed to survive.
On the work front, Saif Ali Khan will soon star in Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, with the teaser recently dropping at Netflix’s Next on Netflix event.
