Salman Khan’s Birthday Bombshell? Kick 2 Buzz Heats Up — But Don’t Believe the Casting Rumours Just Yet

As Salman Khan wraps up the intense shoot of Battle of Galwan, whispers around Kick 2 are getting louder. But amid birthday hype, leaked reports, and casting speculation, here’s what’s actually true — and what’s pure Bollywood noise.

Salman Khan’s birthday has always been a headline-generating event, but this year, the buzz feels particularly electric. With the superstar currently busy completing the shoot of his war drama Battle of Galwan, reports have begun circulating that Salman is gearing up to officially announce Kick 2 — the long-awaited sequel to his 2014 blockbuster — on his birthday. Sounds exciting, right? Well, not everything making the rounds deserves a celebratory dance.

Over the past few days, social media and entertainment portals have been flooded with claims about Kick 2, including a particularly spicy rumor suggesting that Kriti Sanon would replace Jacqueline Fernandez as the female lead. However, according to the latest and most reliable update, these reports are nothing more than speculative fiction.

“Completely False and Baseless”: Makers Shut Down Rumours

A source close to the development told Bollywood Hungama that all the chatter surrounding Kick 2 — including casting changes — is premature and inaccurate.

“All reports doing the rounds about Kick 2, including speculation around casting changes, are completely false and baseless. No official details have been planned, and the makers will share information only when the time is right.”

In other words, Salman Khan fans may want to hold their horses. While excitement around the sequel is justified, there’s been no official confirmation regarding casting, announcements, or timelines tied specifically to Salman’s birthday.

Kick 2 Is Real — And Has Been for a While

What is confirmed, however, is that Kick 2 is very much alive. Back in 2024, producer Sajid Nadiadwala officially confirmed the sequel, putting an end to years of speculation. The confirmation came with a now-iconic image from Salman Khan’s photoshoot for the film.

The photo, shared by Sajid on X (formerly Twitter), showed Salman standing with his back to the camera, dressed in a black ganji, facing a lineup of luxury cars — a visual that screamed swagger and nostalgia.

Sajid captioned the image:

“It was a great Kick 2 photoshoot Sikandar….!!! From Grand Sajid Nadiadwala.”

Interestingly, the shoot happened while Salman was simultaneously filming Sikandar with Rashmika Mandanna, proving once again that the superstar’s calendar is as packed as his fan base.

Why Kick Still Matters So Much

Released in 2014, Kick marked Sajid Nadiadwala’s directorial debut and went on to become one of the biggest hits of Salman Khan’s career. The film’s stylish action, chartbuster music, and Salman’s larger-than-life Devil persona turned it into a pop-culture phenomenon.

For Sajid, Kick isn’t just another film — it’s his most emotionally significant IP.

In an earlier interview with Pinkvilla, Sajid candidly spoke about why he has been taking his time with the sequel.

“I launched myself as a director with Kick and that’s my favourite IP. The moment I speak about Kick, I get messages from the industry, and even the digital world is flooded with questions about when Kick 2 will go on floors.”

He added that the sequel is already written but demands the right timing, scale, and theatrical environment.

“The subject is there on paper, it’s completely written but needs time. We need a bigger scale and a better time for its release. We need to have cinema consumption back in fashion for us to make Kick.”

That statement alone explains why Kick 2 has taken years to materialize — and why the makers are cautious about making premature announcements.

Salman Khan’s Packed Pipeline

At the moment, Salman Khan is focused on wrapping up Battle of Galwan, a high-profile project that has already generated buzz for its intense theme and scale. With multiple films in various stages of development, Salman’s schedule is anything but flexible.

Earlier reports suggested that Sajid Nadiadwala was eyeing a 2025 shooting schedule for Kick 2, but even that depends on Salman’s availability and Sajid’s responsibilities as a producer overseeing multiple projects under his banner.

A Mid-Day report previously noted that Sajid wants to ensure smooth operations across his productions so he can fully dedicate himself to directing Kick 2 — a responsibility he clearly doesn’t want to rush.

What About Jacqueline Fernandez?

As of now, there is absolutely no official word about Jacqueline Fernandez being replaced — or retained — in Kick 2. Jacqueline’s chemistry with Salman in the original film played a significant role in its appeal, and any casting change would undoubtedly be a major talking point.

Given the makers’ firm denial of casting rumors, it’s safe to say that no decisions regarding the female lead have been finalized or announced yet.

Birthday Announcement or Strategic Silence?

Will Salman Khan still announce Kick 2 on his birthday? Possibly. But if history has taught Bollywood watchers anything, it’s that Salman prefers impact over impulse. An official announcement will likely come only when the film is truly ready to move forward — not just to feed the rumor mill.

Until then, fans can rest assured that Kick 2 is happening — just not on the timeline or terms that gossip pages are suggesting.

One thing is certain: when Salman Khan finally kicks open the doors to Kick 2, it won’t need leaks, rumors, or speculation. The announcement will speak for itself — loudly.
