During a conversation with Nayandeep Rakshit on his YouTube channel, Taapsee was asked why she never publicly announced her wedding date.

Her answer was characteristically direct.

“Why should I have a public announcement?” she asked.

Taapsee explained that she has always tried to maintain a separation between her personal and professional lives.

She clarified that keeping her marriage private was not about hiding it, being scared or feeling embarrassed about it.

For her, it was simply personal.

The actor also said that putting out a formal press note accompanied by a collection of photographs and videos would have felt “very weird”.

And that explains why fans never received the traditional celebrity wedding announcement that has become almost routine in Bollywood.

Taapsee and Mathias Dated for Nine Years

Taapsee and Mathias had already been together for around nine years before getting married.

Their relationship remained relatively low-key compared with many celebrity romances.

Mathias Boe, a former Danish badminton star and Olympic silver medallist, was not part of Bollywood’s celebrity ecosystem. His sporting career made him a known personality internationally, but Taapsee pointed out that he does not experience the same level of public scrutiny that she does as a Hindi-film actor.

That difference was an important factor in Taapsee’s decision to protect their privacy.

The couple eventually married in Udaipur in March 2023 in an intimate celebration attended by close friends and family.
