Tom Cruise has once again pushed the limits of action filmmaking, but this time, it nearly cost him consciousness! The Hollywood daredevil revealed that he blacked out mid-stunt while filming Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning—and honestly, are we even surprised?
Speaking to Empire, Cruise spilled the details about an insane scene that had him dangling off the wing of a 1930s Boeing Stearman biplane at 10,000 feet—all while flying over South Africa. The problem? The high-speed winds made it nearly impossible to breathe.
“When you stick your face out, going over 120 to 130 miles an hour, you’re not getting oxygen,” Cruise explained. “I had to train myself how to breathe. There were times I would pass out—physically unable to get back into the cockpit.”
Director Christopher McQuarrie chimed in, admitting that this was one of Cruise’s most dangerous stunts ever, and there’s still another underwater sequence that’s even more nerve-wracking!
With Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning hitting theaters on May 23, 2025, it looks like Cruise is once again ready to blow minds—while risking his own!
