The Raja Saab Box Office Day 6: Prabhas Film Slips Sharply After Big Opening, Stands at INR123.3 Cr India Net

Maruthi’s horror-action entertainer struggles to sustain momentum after a thunderous opening as The Raja Saab drops to ₹3.9 crore on Day 6, triggering mixed trade reactions across Telugu, Hindi and Tamil markets.

After an explosive launch that had trade circles buzzing, Prabhas’ much-hyped pan-India release The Raja Saab is now facing the harsh realities of weekday box office economics. On its sixth day in theatres, the film managed to collect approximately ₹3.9 crore India net across all languages, taking its total domestic tally to around ₹123.3 crore.

While crossing the ₹100 crore mark within the first week remains an achievement on paper, the sharp downward trend in daily collections has sparked concern among exhibitors and trade analysts, especially considering the film’s massive scale, star power and aggressive release footprint.

The film opened strong but has witnessed consistent drops since Day 2, indicating that audience reception has been more muted than expected for a Prabhas-led spectacle.

Day 6 Box Office Performance: A Noticeable Slowdown

After earning ₹4.8 crore on Day 5, The Raja Saab slipped further on Wednesday with approximately ₹3.9 crore coming in by evening estimates. This marks one of the lowest single-day totals for the film so far.

Here’s a quick look at how the film has trended:

  • Day 1: ₹53.75 Cr
  • Day 2: ₹26 Cr
  • Day 3: ₹19.1 Cr
  • Day 4: ₹6.6 Cr
  • Day 5: ₹4.8 Cr
  • Day 6: ₹3.9 Cr

The pattern clearly shows steep midweek erosion after the opening weekend excitement faded. While weekday drops are expected, the magnitude of decline suggests limited repeat value and cautious walk-in audiences.

Telugu Market Still Carrying the Film

Despite the overall slowdown, the Telugu belt continues to be the film’s strongest territory. On Day 6, the film registered an overall Telugu occupancy of 21.04%, driven primarily by regional strongholds.

Top Telugu circuits performing well:

  • Warangal: 45% occupancy
  • Mahbubnagar: 45.5%
  • Kakinada: 44%
  • Vizag: 34%
  • Vijayawada: 30.5%
  • Hyderabad: 29%

These numbers indicate that Prabhas’ core fanbase remains loyal, particularly in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Afternoon shows performed better than morning slots, suggesting that family audiences are choosing later showtimes.

However, multiplex-heavy urban centres such as Bengaluru showed relatively lower traction, highlighting the uneven performance across demographics.

Hindi Market Remains Soft

The Hindi version continues to underperform compared to expectations for a pan-India release featuring Prabhas and Sanjay Dutt. On Day 6, the film clocked an overall Hindi occupancy of just 8.92%.

Key Hindi market observations:

  • Chandigarh: 14.5%
  • Surat: 13.5%
  • Ahmedabad: 9.5%
  • Mumbai: 8.5%
  • NCR: 7%
  • Kolkata: 3.5%

The low turnout in North Indian metros suggests that the film has struggled to create organic buzz beyond its opening hype. Word-of-mouth appears mixed, with audiences divided on the film’s horror-comedy tone and pacing.

Tamil Circuits Also Lukewarm

The Tamil version didn’t fare much better, recording an overall 8.72% occupancy on Day 6.

Cities like Chennai (12.5%), Coimbatore (11%), and Bengaluru (15%) showed modest traction, while smaller centres saw near-empty shows. This confirms that The Raja Saab hasn’t yet managed to break into the Tamil mainstream audience despite its star cast and large promotional push.

What Went Wrong After the Big Opening?

Trade analysts point toward several factors impacting the film’s sharp drop:

1. Mixed Audience Word-of-Mouth:
While fans appreciated Prabhas’ screen presence and the film’s visual scale, many viewers felt the narrative lacked consistency and tonal balance between horror, comedy and action.

2. High Expectations Post Prabhas’ Recent Blockbusters:
After delivering massive box office performers, expectations were sky-high. Anything less than extraordinary audience satisfaction was bound to impact sustainability.

3. Heavy Competition for Screens:
Multiple new releases and holdover titles have reduced premium screen availability, especially in multiplex chains.

4. Weak Hindi Penetration:
Unlike earlier pan-India hits, The Raja Saab hasn’t cracked strong traction in the Hindi heartland, limiting upside growth.

Still a Respectable Start, But Long-Term Prospects Remain Uncertain

Crossing ₹123 crore in six days is still a respectable milestone, especially for a genre-blending film. However, the real test lies in whether the film can stabilize over the upcoming weekend and prevent further sharp erosion.

If collections rebound slightly during Friday-to-Sunday, the film could still finish with a decent lifetime total. Otherwise, sustaining momentum beyond the second week could become challenging.

The Telugu market will remain the film’s primary revenue driver moving forward, while Hindi and Tamil circuits may contribute marginally unless positive word-of-mouth improves.

Star Power Still Pulling Audiences

Directed by Maruthi and produced by People Media Factory, The Raja Saab stars Prabhas, Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Boman Irani and Riddhi Kumar. The casting generated strong pre-release excitement, especially among Prabhas fans eager to see him in a lighter, genre-mixing avatar.

Sanjay Dutt’s presence as a formidable antagonist has also drawn curiosity, though it hasn’t yet translated into sustained box office traction in North India.

Final Word

The Raja Saab finds itself at a critical crossroads. The opening numbers were blockbuster-worthy, but the steep weekday drops highlight the importance of content-driven word-of-mouth in today’s theatrical ecosystem.

If the film manages a turnaround over the weekend, it could stabilize into a steady long runner. If not, the early promise may fade quicker than expected — a reminder that even star-driven spectacles now live and die by audience approval.
