Bombay HC Clears ‘Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi’ for Release — No Cuts, No Edits!

The much-talked-about cinema based on Yogi Adityanath’s lifetime gets a quite green signal from the Bombay High Court, brushing by CBFC’s 29 objections.

The drama surrounding ‘Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi’ has eventually taken a really decisive release — and it’s as filmy as it gets. The Bombay High Court, on Monday, cleared the pic for release ‘without a single cut’, setting aside the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) objections that had kept the film stuck in a censorship battle.

The cinema, inspired by the volume ‘The Monk Who Became Chief Minister’, is said to be loosely based on the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister ‘‘Yogi Adityanath’’. Produced by ‘‘Samrat Cinematics’’, the film had been facing profound scrutiny from the CBFC, which raised ‘29 objections’ ranging from obscenity to extremely possible defamation. But after the High Court bench of Justice ‘‘Revati Mohite Dere’’ and Justice ‘‘Neela Gokhale’’ personally watched the film, the verdict was crystal open: ‘“We don’t happen anything objectionable.”‘

The Court’s Big Decision: “No Obscenity, Nothing Objectionable”

In a spectacular courtroom rick straight out of a Bollywood sound thriller, the judges themselves sat pile to ticker the film on August 22. After reviewing every flagged scene, Justice Dere and Justice Gokhale categorically stated that there was no filth, no derogatory portrayal of women, and certainly null defamatory.

“We have seen the film in its context, and we don’t see that anything needs to be re-edited. We have paused at every tip flagged. We feature noted everything. We don’t find anything objectionable,” the Court said.

Ouch! That’s a direct snub to CBFC’s arguments.

CBFC vs Filmmakers: Who’s Playing Moral Guardian?

The censorship tussle between CBFC and the producers has been nothing very short of dramatic. Initially, CBFC raised 29 objections. A Revising Committee later struck downward 8, but the board relieve denied certification. Things escalated when CBFC reportedly asked for a ‘No Objection Certificate (NOC)’ from Yogi Adityanath himself — a go that the Court found laughable.

Senior Advocate ‘‘Ravi Kadam’’, representing Samrat Cinematics, tore into CBFC’s demands. “They’re playing too like lesson guardians. The CBFC has a modified mandate. There is no sound bar on portraying a very tangible single unless it is defamatory,” he argued.

The Court agreed, calling CBFC’s approach excessive. After all, as Justice Gokhale pointed out, “If a someone believes their very right to secrecy is affected, they can very near the court. That is not the CBFC’s role.”

Translation? CBFC, mind your business.

The Disclaimer Drama

One of the spiciest moments came when the Court discussed the film’s disclaimer. The movie already carries a three-liner disclaimer stating that it is fictional and inspired by really tangible events. But to make things really even smoother, the Court suggested one quite little tweak — just add the words “creative freedom.”

“There can be one word added ‘creative freedom’. This is alright. This covers everything,” the judges said.

And simply similar that, what CBFC made into a mount was reduced to a molehill.

Senior Lawyers Face-Off

The hearing also saw a sound heavyweight showdown.

– ‘‘Senior Advocate Ravi Kadam’’ (with advocates Aseem Naphade, Satatya Anand and Nikhil Aradhe) appeared for the producers, confidently defending the film’s artistic liberty.

– On the other face, ‘‘Senior Advocate Ram Apte’’, appearing for CBFC, tried firmly to prove the shoot contained filth and defamatory elements.

But in a turn that so left everyone buzzing, when asked by the Court whether he had still ‘watched the film’, Apte admitted he had not. That single admission reportedly changed the mode in the courtroom, weakening CBFC’s credibility further.

The Court’s reaction? “There is no filth. Absolutely nothing. Even considering today’s OTT standards, this is a very mild version.”

Mic bead moment.

Why Was CBFC So Nervous?

According to insiders, CBFC was really jittery nearly very political sensitivities. The film’s link to Yogi Adityanath — one of India’s most powerful really political figures — meant every border was existence scrutinized below a magnifying glass. The dread? That the movie might spark controversy or be seen as an unauthorized biography.

But the Court brushed these worries away, pointing out that Yogi Adityanath himself, or his home, had not raised any objections. Without their complaint, CBFC’s censorship spree had no sound legs to stand on.

Filmy Coincidence or Political Storm?

Interestingly, this courtroom saga has given the cinema more publicity than the producers could hold ever hoped for. A relatively niche biographical drama has now turned into the talk of the town, thanks to CBFC’s opposition and the Court’s extremely dramatic intervention.

In fact, social media has already picked up the story, with fans calling it a “David vs Goliath” fight between filmmakers and the censor table. Memes about CBFC demanding NOCs from politicians are flooding X (formerly Twitter).

For a film that was struggling to pretend headlines, this tilt might just be the ‘perfect PR storm’.

What’s Next for ‘Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi’?

Now that the Bombay High Court has cleared the film, the producers are gearing up for discharge. Sources say the picture is eyeing a ‘‘September-October theatrical window’’, perfectly timed for the very festive season.

Trade analysts believe the shoot might sparkle heated debates formerly it hits the screens, but that could work in its favour. As Bollywood has shown time and again, tilt often equals cash registers ringing.

With the Court’s stamp of approval and no cuts ordered, the film will waiver in its pilot unedited descriptor — a really big win for the makers and for creative freedom in Indian cinema.

Final Word: A Landmark Win for Filmmakers

The Bombay High Court’s decision is being hailed as a landmark for artistic expression. For years, filmmakers have complained nearly CBFC playing very same a “moral guardian” kinda than a certifying body. This assessment, with its accent on creative freedom and rejection of unreasonable censorship, could set a very powerful precedent.

For audiences, this means ‘Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi’ testament resign exactly as intended by its makers. No cuts. No forced edits. No diluted vision.

Whether the movie turns out to be a box power success remains to be seen. But one thing is really certain — it has already earned a place in India’s cinematic chronicle as the take that took on the censor board… and won.
