Vishnu Manchu reveals why Prabhas and Mohanlal refused payment for his Rs 200-crore epic, Kannappa. Akshay Kumar also charged peanuts!
Vishnu Manchu’s magnum opus Kannappa is creating massive buzz, and now he’s dropped a bombshell—Prabhas threatened to kill him when offered payment! Yes, you read that right.
In a recent interview, Vishnu revealed that both Prabhas and Mohanlal didn’t charge a single rupee for their roles. “Every time I asked them to quote a fee, they yelled at me,” he said. Mohanlal reportedly told him, “You grew up around me and now you dare to pay me?” Meanwhile, Prabhas, in true Baahubali style, “threatened to kill” him.
Vishnu couldn’t stop gushing about the generosity of these mega-stars. “They didn’t need to do this film, but they did—out of love, respect, and friendship,” he shared.
Interestingly, even Akshay Kumar slashed his fees significantly for his role, adding to the goodwill wave around Kannappa. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the mythological fantasy follows an atheist hunter’s spiritual transformation into Lord Shiva’s greatest devotee.
With a colossal budget of Rs 200 crore and a powerful cast backing it without chasing paychecks, Kannappa hits cinemas on June 27, 2025—and the hype is real.
