Video Box Office Collection Day 9: Kannada Horror Film Reaches INR 1.36 Crore India Net, Day 9 Holds at INR 0.09 Crore

Srinidhi Bengaluru’s found-footage Kannada horror film has collected ₹1.36 crore India net in nine days, while its day-wise run shows a sharp post-weekend slowdown despite early audience curiosity.

Kannada cinema’s latest horror experiment Video has reached the end of its second theatrical weekend with ₹1.36 crore India net and ₹1.54 crore India gross, according to the box-office figures provided for the film. Released on September 11, the 122-minute, A-certified horror thriller has recorded ₹0.09 crore on Day 9, matching its Day 6 collection but remaining well below the stronger numbers posted during its opening weekend.

For a film built around missing vloggers, abandoned cameras and a supposedly terrifying location, Video has certainly found the right ingredients for online curiosity. The bigger question now is whether that curiosity can translate into sustained theatrical footfall.

Video Day 9 Box Office Collection: Full Breakdown

The Kannada horror film opened at ₹0.15 crore on Day 1 before seeing a noticeable improvement through the weekend.

Day 1 – ₹0.15 Cr
Day 2 – ₹0.24 Cr
Day 3 – ₹0.29 Cr
Day 4 – ₹0.19 Cr
Day 5 – ₹0.14 Cr
Day 6 – ₹0.12 Cr
Day 7 – ₹0.09 Cr
Day 8 – ₹0.05 Cr
Day 9 – ₹0.09 Cr

The total now stands at ₹1.36 crore India net, with ₹1.54 crore India gross and no overseas contribution listed in the supplied figures.

The opening weekend brought in ₹0.68 crore India net, which means exactly half of the film’s nine-day net has come from its first three days. That is an important box-office signal: the film managed to attract an initial audience, but maintaining that momentum after Sunday has been the bigger challenge.

Day 9 Brings a Small Box Office Bounce

After falling to ₹0.05 crore on Day 8, Video moved back up to ₹0.09 crore on Day 9.

That is an 80% day-on-day increase, but the percentage looks more dramatic because it is being calculated from a particularly low base.

In absolute terms, the film added only ₹0.04 crore over Day 8.

So, while the Day 9 figure is encouraging compared with the previous day, it should not yet be treated as a major theatrical turnaround. The next few days will reveal whether this was merely a weekend fluctuation or the beginning of a more sustained recovery.

With ₹1.36 crore already collected, the film still has a chance to stretch its theatrical run if occupancy improves, especially among horror audiences looking for a Kannada-language alternative.

What Is Video Actually About?

Directed and written by Srinidhi Bengaluru, Video follows a group of Bengaluru content creators known as the Tarle Gang.

The group has crossed a major subscriber milestone and sets out on a journey to explore a supposedly terrifying location while filming their experience. Things take a sinister turn, and three months after their disappearance, a travelling couple discovers abandoned cameras that may hold the answers to what happened.

The found-footage format is central to the movie rather than being a decorative gimmick. The Hindu’s coverage of the trailer described the film as being deliberately presented through the found-footage aesthetic, with the trailer itself attempting to replicate the experience of watching material captured by the characters.

The Central Board of Film Certification lists Video as a Kannada film with an A certificate and a runtime of approximately 122 minutes. Its official certification record also describes the setup involving a Tamil Nadu couple discovering cameras connected to missing Bengaluru vloggers.

Why Video Has Created Curiosity Despite Modest Numbers

One of the strongest hooks of Video is that it taps into something extremely contemporary: the culture of filming everything.

The characters are not traditional horror protagonists wandering into danger simply because the screenplay requires it.

They are content creators.

For them, the camera is part of everyday life.

That gives the found-footage technique a natural reason to exist.

The New Indian Express specifically noted that the five YouTubers’ obsession with views, subscribers and content is integrated into the film’s storytelling, rather than the cameras simply being used as an excuse for the visual style.

That distinction could prove important for the film’s long-term identity.

Audiences have already seen countless haunted-house stories. What makes Video more contemporary is its attempt to merge horror with the attention economy of social media.

The characters are effectively chasing content—and the content begins chasing them.

Critics Notice the Technical Ambition

The response from critics has not been uniform, but several reviews have highlighted the film’s technical execution.

India Today gave Video 3/5, praising the film for delivering thrills and describing its camerawork, editing and sound design as major strengths, while also pointing to weaknesses in the first-half pacing and certain climax effects.

The Times of India also rated the film 3/5, calling it a well-crafted found-footage horror and highlighting its editing and immersive sound design, while noting that the increasingly graphic second half may not work equally well for every viewer.

The Hollywood Reporter India similarly focused on the film’s technical construction, describing it as a found-footage experiment that is stronger on technique than outright horror.

That critical pattern is interesting when viewed against the box office.

Video may not be setting cash registers on fire, but its filmmaking technique is generating conversation—and for a genre film made outside the mainstream commercial template, that can have value beyond the opening weekend.

The 6-5=2 Comparison Is Impossible To Avoid

There is one name that keeps appearing whenever Video is discussed: 6-5=2.

The 2013 Kannada found-footage horror became a notable success and remains an important reference point for the format in Kannada cinema. India Today explicitly positioned Video against that earlier film while noting the new movie’s attempt to create a similar audience connection with a different generation and subject.

But expecting every found-footage horror movie to repeat that trajectory is a dangerous box-office equation.

The genre has evolved.

Audiences are more familiar with shaky-camera storytelling, mock-documentary horror, internet horror and viral found-footage aesthetics than they were years ago.

That means a new film needs more than the format.

It needs atmosphere, characters, surprise and an ending that sticks.

Cast And Crew: Young Kannada Talent In Focus

Video stars Bharath K Tumkur, Jeevan Shivakumar, Tejesh S Manjunath, Priya J Achar and Nalme Nachiyar.

Srinidhi Bengaluru handles direction, screenplay and dialogues, while Dheekshith Shetty produces the film under Dhee Cinemas. Avinaasha Shastry is the cinematographer, Sanjeev Jagirdar is the editor and Prasanna Kumar MS is the music director. These credits are also listed in the CBFC certification record and current film databases.

The technical emphasis makes sense for a movie in which camera language, editing rhythm and sound are effectively part of the storytelling.

In a traditional horror film, music can tell the audience when to be scared.

In found footage, the camera itself becomes the warning.

What Does ₹1.36 Crore Mean For Video’s Theatrical Future?

The absence of a publicly established budget in the supplied figures makes it difficult to calculate a conventional theatrical recovery point.

That means declaring a final box-office verdict at the nine-day stage would be premature.

What the numbers do establish is a clear pattern.

The film had its strongest run between Days 1 and 4, peaking at ₹0.29 crore on Sunday. Collections then dropped steadily through the week, with Day 8 marking the low point at ₹0.05 crore.

Day 9’s return to ₹0.09 crore is therefore useful, but the film needs additional stability rather than a one-day bump.

The second-week performance will matter for another reason too: horror films can sometimes benefit from word-of-mouth after their initial release, particularly when technical execution or the twist becomes a talking point among viewers.

At the same time, spoiler-heavy genres face a unique challenge. Once the mystery is heavily discussed online, the urgency to watch immediately can disappear for some viewers.

That makes the coming theatrical days particularly significant.

Video Box Office Collection Day 9: Final Update

At the end of nine days, Video stands at ₹1.36 crore India net, with ₹1.54 crore India gross. Day 9 collected ₹0.09 crore, showing an uptick from the previous day’s ₹0.05 crore.

The film has not produced a breakout box-office run so far, but its story is not limited to raw numbers.

It has brought a distinctly modern found-footage horror concept to Kannada cinema, attracted attention for its technical craftsmanship and reopened conversations around the genre’s earlier milestones.

Now comes the real test.

Can audience word-of-mouth give Video a second wind, or will the cameras stop rolling at the box office before the mystery gets a chance to become a bigger theatrical conversation?

For now, ₹1.36 crore is on the scoreboard—and the horror story is still playing out.
