Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light may not have taken home the BAFTA, but it surely won hearts worldwide! The critically acclaimed film, starring Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Chhaya Kadam, was nominated in the prestigious Best Film Not in the English Language category. However, the trophy ultimately went to the Spanish crime musical Emilia Pérez, which has been sweeping awards this season.
Despite missing the win, All We Imagine As Light continues its incredible global journey. The Mumbai-set drama, which beautifully captures the lives of two nurses navigating love and loss, first made waves at Cannes, winning the Grand Prix. Since then, it has topped Sight and Sound’s Best Movies of the Year list and secured major wins at the Gotham Awards and NY Film Critics Circle.
Indian cinephiles can stream the film on JioHotstar, while BAFTA 2025 will be live-streamed on Lionsgate Play in India. The prestigious ceremony, hosted by David Tennant, takes place at London’s Royal Albert Hall. While India didn’t clinch a win this time, our independent cinema is making its mark—and the world is watching!
